Dalia von Wegen LookBook SS13

I'm still alive you guys! And I still live in Istanbul! And I'm still doing fashionz! Yeah, so, erm, this is what I've done this semester (well, in two weeks, because I haven't really been doing much fashion). There's not much to say, except maybe: GANZKÖRPERKONDOM! Do with it what you will. If you want something, you know how to reach me.

(It's more costume design really.)

JB and the Dolphin

Dolphin #1 or JB and the Dolphin

For the past month I have hardly been doing anything but sitting in my room being depressed, listening to way to sad music and wasting away. The biggest mistake I tend to do is having all these expectations about things and then have them shattered, which generaly leads me to sitting in my room being depressed, listening to way to sad music and wasting away. After spending a week in my room without even leaving to get food (I ate the weirdest combinations of whatever I could find in the kitchen), I finally got my ass up and decided to go back to the most depressing place in all of Turkey: University. I don't want to tell you how bad the University is, because actually it's not bad, it's just different, educating their students for a different future than mine will ever be. They have to draw very neatly in ways that I could never draw and frankly, I'm not interested in drawing like that. The education is fitting for people who want to go on working for a company like, I dunno, something better than H&M, but very similar to that. I want to become an independent designer who is going to be very dependent on their mum. (She knows how the world works, I don't.) I intend to make fashion that people like me want to wear, confused people in their twenties who think they're still a teenager, that is.
So, naturally, all the teachers hate what I do. But that's probably good. I have to deal with a lot of rejection and criticism. One thing I know for sure is that I'm not going to change who I am to please anybody but myself and I really really like myself, like, a lot, so, I'm not going to change.
I know that I'm still far from being as good as I can be and that I have a trillion more things to learn before I can become said independent designer, but I also know that I'm not going to learn these things here. But I'm learning other things, like, how to live on my own, how to live in a foreign country without really knowing the language, I'm even learning bank stuff! Most importantly I'm learning alot about myslef and how to stop myself from falling.

This kitschy post was brought to you by Dalia von Wegen, Mermaidprincess, Queen of nothing and everything, Godess of pancakes.

PS: The first picture is my Fiber Arts project, the next 4 are some of the illusrations for my Fashion Illustration calss (they are highly unappreciated by my teachers), and the last two pictures are some of the work for my (also highly unappreciated) collection. (Note the sarcasm.)

Istanbul Fashion Week

The best reporter at Fashion Week (©Joanna Ka):

Last week was Fashion Week in Istanbul. Though I never really understand why Fashion Week is called Fashion Week. It's not actually taking place in the span of a week, but rather in the span of a couple of days. But then again "Couple of days of Fashion" doesn't sound so fancy.

You probably wonder why I only have one actual catwalk picture. I do have more. Blurry messes. This might not have happened if I would have thought to bring my camera the first day, my camera's SD card the second day, or charged my battery the third day. Also, the Fashion wasn't really that interesting. There was one show I really liked and I saw about, I dunno, 8, 10 maybe. (This show was on the day I didn't have any battery). I had a lot of fun photobombing with my spongebob bag, sit-dancing with my friends and slack off posh people anyways.

Busy doing nothing

Two of my friends and I walked across Istanbul a couple of days ago and took some pictures. Life in Istanbul is really fucking busy but I love every bit of it. Even going to the office of foreign affairs of the police (or whatever it's called) can be fun. I eat a lot. Even more than in Vienna.
My landlord gives me breakfast on a weekly basis and today I was invited for dinner by a friend of some friends. He's from syria and an amazing cook. We talked about how much we miss Molukheia (how do you write an arabic word in english?).

The only thing that's bugging me is that I hardly have any clothes to wear. I left most of my belongings in Austria and just brought necessities. As of today I only had one sweater. Not even a cardigan. I have to wear the same thing all the time. I was flicking through old pictures of me today and missed all my shiny shiny clothes. I'm a vain person.

I'm spending the rest of the year in Istanbul before I come to Vienna for a visit. That sort of makes me happy and sad at the same time. I miss my family and my friends. I miss sitting in WerkzeugH writing pornpoems.

Today I fell in love with a lesbian actress.

I kinda moved to Istanbul

Before I left Vienna for good I got a new Tatoo on my arm (the same arm as my first Tatoo). "Rainbows wept colour all over the streets", google it if you don't know. I arrived yesterday evening and the first thing I did after checking in my hostel was FOOD. The waiter gave me some tea for free after I ate. I think people here just do that. You can also have free tea all day at my hostel (and coffee but why drink coffee when you can have tea?). Istanbul smells like Cairo in some parts. I got lost today. On purpose. I went to a part of the city without any tourists, where everything is really cheap and real. Little children were playing football on the streets, chasing kittens and going downhill sitting on a skateboard (that looked very very very old). I went by a café with only men sitting inside.
When I got hungry I went  into a bakery and ate some Börek and had a conversation with the owner. In turkish. He taught me a few things and I taught him 1 to 10 in english (and arabic). He laughed when I accidentaly said No in arabic instead of turkish at one point. I paid one Lira for the Börek and some peachjuice. That's not even 50 Cent (this is not a Hip-Hop reference, or is it?). I think he told me to come again, but I didn't understand everything he told me.
My Hostel is playing M.I.A. right now. It's awsome here.
After I got lost on purpose I went to the Bosporus and had a Dürüm, which I'm not supposed to eat, because I tend to puke after eating it. I haven't turned my insides out yet, I'm hoping I won't after all. At the Bosporus people are fishing. And there is a man selling grilled fish in Pide. But I already had food. I might get a fishpide for dinner. It was literally from the water on the grill. It smelled so good. I went by my University later. It's the building site in the pictures. University is supposed to start in three weeks. I dunno about that! Well, whatever I just want to knit and do stuff.

Can you believe it? I live in Istanbul.
