The first time I dyed my eyebrows was shortly after I shaved my head.

Then they were normal again.

It's a bit hard to see in the picture but they're actually violet/purple.

Then I dyed them pink (best decision of my life).

And today I just bleached them. I'm going to leave it like that for a while. The best thing about it is, that I can make them any colour I want for as long as I want by just applying eyeshadow. I could probably also apply lipstick or lipliner or wha do you call that pencil you draw on eyebrows with? - well that (which I never had to use in my life because my eyebrows are perfect).

I guess all that happened last year (except for the thing I did today).

Notice how fast my hair grows? I cut it like 4 or 5 times in between. Wicked hair!

I was just talking to my friend on skype and she angryly told me that I should post more often because she doesn't know what's going on in my life (little does she know that I'm trying to write a short story about her-I suck at writing by the way). I have been absent from everything lately (and that's not going to change very much). I was very focused on doing Uni stuff, I just had a presentation last week. Now I am sick and sad. I'm always sad when I'm sick. And I hate taking pills. But I kind of have to.

Anyways, apparently I don't work with any pants on. And to quote my sister here: "Pants are overrated." This is what it looks like when I work. And I work in my sisters room. She's not living there anymore anyways (which sucks).

Today I saw snow for the first time this winter. Yesterday I was outside with nothing on but jeans, t-shirt and cardigan. I wasn't cold at all. Today snow has been blowing outside my window like crazy.

I always tell people that I don't like snow. I really don't like snow. It's not so much snow itself. But when you live in the city for a great part of your life, you just don't like snow. It get's all mushy and grey and disgusting and it ruins your shoes. Well, the salt on the snow does. And I will always be afraid of an endless winter (meaning till April). I'm a summer person. It might be because I was born in summer or because my father is from Egypt. I dunno and I don't care. Snow is a beautiful thing when it's new or you live on the countryside. I remember the snow on the countryside. (I'm hardly ever on the countryside, because I am also a city person.) It is a very beautiful and interesting thing, with all it's shapes and textures. Anyways, I am afraid this winter will last till my birthday because it has just started today.

Remeber when I made a course at Central Saint Martins College last summer? I met a bunch of very cool people there. I am still friends with a bunch of them and I miss the crowd and they're all amazing. Remeber my friend Markus and his label Raspberry Cheesecake? Well, he's not the only young lad to launch his own label.

My favourite from th CSM crowd (I probably souldn't say that, but why lie?), Roberi Parra just finished his second collection. Both for men and women. And let me tell you, I lurve it!

This is my room. That's where I have been living for 10 years now. It has changed so much over the past years and still somehow always remained the same. It's a mess. It's always a mess.

I have been very melancholic, if not to say sad, the past weeks and I have to stop myself from doing that. I think my room has a big role in my moods. Like, for example, a couple of months ago I cleaned it up so perfectly and I was so happy and proud of myself, but at the same time, it didn't quite feel the same. I literally couldn't find my stuff anymore and got really mad at myslef and everyone. And now, my room is like half cleaned up and I feel nearly perfect. Maybe the fact that I am listening to Bon Iver isn't helping but I just watched Crazy, Stupid, Love and I dunno, I always get really really sad after watching romantic comedies, though I also feel rather normal at the same time.

I probably don't make any sense right now, but just know: This is my room. This is where I live. This is where I work and how I work. This is where the magic happens.

I own this pair of tights for as long as I can remember. I remember always being too tiny for them. They would just be very loose and now, that I am finally what they call "grown up", they are too small for me. But you don't get tights in that quality anymore.

So I just cut off the legs and I'm gonna sew some elastic band on them and I'll have asymmetrical overknees. So if you have a pair of really good tights lying around somewhere that don't fit anymore, you know what to do with 'em.

I was organizing all my tights today and got rid of the really damaged ones and the ones I really didn't wear anymore. Now I own about 40 to 45, maybe 50 pairs. I AM SICK! I TELL YA!

Alina Saavedra-Santis of the third semester is going to sell her so called wi-shirts. The shirts are made of simple geometrical forms, such as triangles and rectangles. Last month I was visiting my sister in Hamburg. It was my first time in Hamburg ever. I didn't go out very much, oposed to my other city visits. It was different because it was sorta coming home-ish to me, because my sister was there. I'm used to go away for a week or two and then return to my sister and not go away to see my sister and return without her.

We spend a lot of time indoors watching telly in her room. Her room is very oldfashioned (in a good way). It has a lot of flowery lamps in it, a red sofa and a single bed. It also has a table and a closet and some chairs of course.

Generally my sister left in the morning to go to work and I would lurk around midday till my sisters lunchbreak. After lunch with my sister I'd wander about in her area, Sternschanze, where all the Hipsters are. I found a cool recordstore near her place and bought two CocoRosie vynils. I also found a lot of tiny designer stores and second hand shops.

At Kleidermarkt, a huge hall filled with second hand clothes and shoes, I found a grandma sweater and an 80ies shirt/blouse. At another second hand store I found the nicest Burberry coat ever. After I found the Burberry coat I wasn't able to spend money on clothes anymore.

Two days of my visit I only sat in a Café researching for my collection.

But the best times were the evenings I spent with my sister in front of the TV, watching Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana. I miss her so much!

Yesterday I noticed that I never gave you anything about my trip to Los Angeles. It was horrifying, beatiful and astounding all at once. The first three days I was simply shocked by all the crazy and homeless people on the street. It seemed to me as everybody in the city was either unemployed, a drug-abuser or homeless. Most of them were all at once I guess. Sad as it is, I got used to that and came around to really liking the city.

That's probably because I met so many awsome people! A piece of advice: Never go there without knowing anyone. It's fine if you don't have a car or a drivers license, but know people! I don't think I would've liked L.A. very much without my friends. Also, there are certain places you cannot go alone. And don't ever walk down 3rd street. My friends lived in Downtown, which is mostly like a city of all the L.A. parts.

Check out Getty Center. It takes you forever to get there by bus but once you're there it's pretty cool. Make sure to be there at sunset. Once it's dark you can see all the L.A. citylights and the Downtown skyline with all the smog is so very beautiful.

As most of you might know, my University and the school Hetzendorf have a huge Market every year around christmas. We only sell high quality designed products that we make ourselves.

Every day (or every day I get a submission), starting today, I will present you one of the products to be sold at our beloved Weihnachtsbazaar (that means Christmasmarket just to be clear).

People who don't know our Christmasmarket might not know that ours is differnet from those huge, way to croweded ones everybody hates. Plus we have a castle! Who can beat that!

My first submission comes from a student of the first semester. Fresh blood so to say. Her product is a chrocheted Earwarmer made from 100% wool framed with a different coloured woolmix.

Her label is called "Zutaten" (Ingredients), meaning that accessories are the ingredients that dress a person.

Austrian Designers #1: Mark&Julia

This is the first "episode", so to say, of a new series on Austrian Fashion designers.

Mark&Julia are a Vienna based design duo who claim that they are simply meant to work together.

"After deciding on a concept, we both take to our sheets and start drawing", Julia told me in an email. She also told me they were inspired by the 90ies, Ace of Bace, Banana-bags, cleopatra, natural colours, cords and many many more things for this collection. They then compare and conclude their designs on paper. This works so well because both have the same sense of aesthetics. Another important part of them working together, is that they inspire each other alot. Julia added that some of their designs develop whilst the sewing prozess.

By the way, Mark&Julia met during fashion school where they soon realized that they will be working together one day.

Soon you will be ablo to buy Mark&Julia pieces at NotJustALabel.

They presented their latest Collection, "Bound", at Berlin's FW "Show0711" and at "the edged showroom" at glaushaus in Kreuzberg, Berlin. They also won the "evoque style contest" in Munich and flew to Paris to shoot an editorial with some other designers for qvest Magazine. Mark&Julia also took part at the international exposition "Vision" in Copenhagen. Next stop will be Vienna Fashion Week.

I know how I haven't posted a singe thing in over a month, but I'm not going to apalogize. I also know how I promised to post a bunch, and I probably will. But not right now. This is important to me right now. I just kind of have a shitty and also very good phase at the same time and I need to sort my life and feelings right now and see where I stand with myself.

I'm going to egypt after 8 years for christamas again (my daddy is from Kairo). And that excites me. CocoRosie is what I need and Egypt is what I need and a fucking Orthopaedic Specialist for my fucking knee is drving me nuts again. Once I've got my shit together again I might start blogging for real again and I might even see my friends again, but this is not shit I want to deal with right now. Sometimes I'm a shit friend but most of the time I'm a good friend to have. Just not now.

So no, I won't fix my phone right now. It'll fix itsself, and if not then I won't have a phone till october. I can handle that and if my friends can't, that's their problem.

This is mainly my outfit from our Univeristy's fashionshow. I made the skirt, the poncho, the hat, and the shoes she's not wearing. The shirt is made by Esther Knoll, and the b/w shoes by Isolde Mayer.

Somehow I made a lot Black and white stuff this semester, which is weird because I am a very colourful person.

By the way, making that poncho was a bitch!

It's a fucking castle!

That's the back and garden of my University and it's only red bench. It's where Maria Theresia used to go when she didn't want to stay in Schönbrunn. It was some sort of Hunting castle or something like that. Now it's a fashion school and Univeristy.

This post is sort of an introduction to the next one coming. The next one will be about our fashion show that took part about two weeks ago. That's actually why I didn't post in the past month. To. Much. Stress. Our fashion show was not held in our castle though, but in St. Marx. BUT the schools fashion show did take place in a huge tent in our garden. (Don't ask me why they put up a tent!)

My next post will involve my knitwear jacket and the shoes I made this semester.

That Indigo shoe.

Ya'll can be proud of me because I'm with the last 5 poeple to win the Indigo competition. We 5 have to produce what we designed and then someone should be winning. On thursday I got my fabrics.

Actually I handed in 3 different designes for shoes, I only have a picture of the one that got chosen, my professor has the other 2 designes. My winning design was inspired by the chemical formula of Indigo. It consists of hexagons and pentagons, so I took them as the pattern for my shoe. Pretty easy.

Indigo is the oldest way to dye fabrics. It's about a 5 week process and there are only a few Indigo dyers left in Europe, infact Mr. Koo (that's the guy who asked us to take part in his competition) is the last one to remain in Austria.

The produced designs will also be presented at our finals show on June 11th, check here to be updated.

You've guessed right. He's Japanese born and completed his MA at Central Saint Martins in London. Actually I think he gratuated last year or something like that. I'm not sure. Anyways, look at that!

I bet you've guessed right again. I LOVE THOSE SHOES! I think they're really easy to make for yourself. All you need is some sort of Creeper-like pair of shoes, or you just take normal Chucks or any Chuck-like thing (whatever you get hold of really) and add soles (platforms that is) to them. I can't really tell you what material to use, but hey, here's someone who does, apparently she's using a foam soling material (whatever the hell that is. I make my platforms of wood, but this could be a better idea). Where was I? Right. You've got your shoe base. Now you take ANY fabric and rip it or cut it (you may even hem it if you're boring) and either sew or stick it on your shoe like the wild animal you are (or whatever they say) until nothing of the original shoe can be seen and then you can attach some spikes...or not. See, pretty easy. Oh and please use something like Patex which is some kind of contact adhesive (or the fabric won't stick there for long).

PPS: I think I might want that jeans mini. I don't really like jeans but that looks really good. Mission: search through fabric and see if you got enough of that wonderful organic jeans left!

It's getting warm in Vienna again which generelly means thights, lots of thights for me! During winter I mostly wear my knitted thight and I only have black and grey ones, with knitted patterns, but none with fowery, colourful patterns.

This picture was taken at my University. Yeah, I know, huge garden, isn't it great. But with the garden comes a mad gardener. He looks at us weirdly all the time, I also heard he has some vegtables in the garden somewhere, but I'm too afraid of him to steal any. He seems really crazy. The gardener is always the murderer.

Did I ever tell you my University's a castle? No? My University is a castle.

For now this must look like nothing to you, also you have to think that I smeared glue all over it, and yes, you are right, but I haven't found any other possible way yet, when you do please inform me imediatly. The show isn't next to finished at all! I didn't sew any of the pieces together nor have I started on the platform at all! The platform will be made out of arcrilyc glas and I have no idea how to make that but I guess I'll just do it. All in all the shoes will be about 11-13 cm high.

On another note: I have not much to tell you about my London-trip other than that I ignored Fashion Week, took about 6 pictures (not worth seeing) and got my arm signed by Faris Rotter from The Horrors (I might show you that picture after all).

Before I say anything else, I'll say this: Forgive my rare posting! I'm a busy, and also lazy little girl.I have way too much on my hands with University, though I'm working on nothing and everything at th same time. It's a bit odd.

However, I wanted to tell you about an exhibition everyone probably already knows everything about and has seen, and blah blah. Anyways, Drawing Fashion is (or maybe took) place at Londons Design Museum. As a fashion design student with an high interest in Illustration I had to go there. Actually this exhibition was one of the reasons for me to visit London again. (Fashion Week not so much, what I kinda regret.) If you live in London and haven't seen this exhibion: GO THERE! It's worth your 6 Pounds. It is fascinating how fashion was illustrated over the years, from the 1920ies to now. You have a wide range of different artists, videos that show their working process and very old examples of Vogue (not to touch though).

On another note: I designed a new pair of shoesies today. Heels with a plexiglas platform. It will take me ages to finish them, though my deadline'll be the 12th April because I'm taking part at a competition (yes, another one). I can feel how those heels will cost m all my nerve (and my mums money, but nah), I see how I'll hate myself for choosing to make a plexiglas platform! Why did I design them? Am I crazy? I will not ever wear them. BUT there'll be an exhibition/fashionshow at the end (actually before the end) of term, and they'll be exhibited at the competition, and if I win I'll be rich.

The A-Team

This is a Bag I made ou of an old lunchbag (is that what it's called?) my mum gave me years ago because I used to love the A-Team. I would sit infront of the TV for hours watching the A-Team.

I wanted to make a bag out of it for months now, but never really got to it. Luckily (or not) one of my other bags broke, so I took the strap from it and clipped it on my lunchbag. I also had a lot of leather left over from making my shoes so I took that to line the bag. If I hadn't lined it, it would be the loudest bag in the world and everything would fall out if I opened it.

I'm going to give you a Tutorial on how I lined it soon, but I'll need to take some pictures first, or you won't understand (it's pretty easy though).

This is the skirt I made for University. My first piece, so to speak. The design isn't very fancy or new or whatever, but I wanted to try something easy and focus more on the making part than on the design part (also I had like 5 seconds to design something). After I finished the skirt I realized it's also wearable as a dress and even more beautiful to wear as a dress.

I can never wear it as a skirt though because it doesn't fit me, both in size and look. Well, maybe some friend wants to borrow it sometime. Or I'll sell it at a sample sale or something.

As you can see, this is not the usuall Karaokes Show. My bandmates were ill or not reachable, so my friend Esther took over. She was amazing! We had to put on the show minutes before actually performing, because it was a (very) short notice thing. This time we didn't have a DJ, but an actual Karaoke-Machine. On New Year's Eve we're going to play at Pratersauna again, with a Karaoke Machine, everyone is allowed to sing after our show!
Meanwhile, Merry Christmas, Hanukka, or happy not-having-a-holiday-day. Whatever, I'm out.

PS.: Yes, I was wearing a Turban, a REAL one, not that scarf-shit they sell as Turbans. The rest of the clothes are not very exciting, it's just Zara and H&M, plus my vintage shoes and a bit of selfmade, selfbought jewelry.

This is the shit I've been doing lately. Not for Uni but for me. And maybe I'll put it in my Portfolio for an internship.

Also, good news on behalf of The Karaokes, we're performing tomorrow at Wurstsalon. The location is to be announced, so if you want to come you have to sign up for the mailing list. I'm finally done with my first pair of Shoes. Yeah, you read right, SHOES! There's so much love in this pair of beautiful red leather shoes. It was really hard to make them and I'm really sorry, but I don't have any pictures of the beginning of the process. (Actally there is one but I my friend who took it didn't send it to me yet, shame on her). I'm going to put up a general post about the studio soon, so you know what it looks like and all the stuff that's lying around, plus some shoes done by the students (with condoms, to get your curiosity). I hope you like my very simple and very red Oxford shoes. This is my first pair, but I'm definitly going to continue Shoemaking next semester, so be aware for more shoes to come in 2011!

The Crown Hat

This is the first thing I did. It's plain wire wrapped and knotted around a hat mould, unfortunately it lost a little bit of it's original form due to transportation.

I took the same hat mould to try and get some wire netting into hatform aswell. This was just a piece of net that was lying around. It didn't even have the right colour and it was too broken anyways.

So I went to the shop and bought new wire netting. This has exactly the same colour as the wire butit was a bit harder than the tryout net and my fingers soon began to hurt, although I was using pliers. Didn't help it much, but I really like the outcome. I still have to solder/braze the ends of the net to the very thin wire I wrapped around the end of the brim to secure it.

Then I simply pulled the first hat/helmet on the net-hat and voila! I got a very pretty wire hat.

Just another picture to show the original colour. You can also see that little project I'm working on for university. It's just silouettes with other silouettes I created on them. It's my semester project, I'm probably going to post about that sometime too, but I'm at the very beginning and I don't even know what I'm going to design clothes or interiors anyways or maybe both. There are juts so many possibilities.

PS.: I'm working on a pair of shoes right now, but I won't have any pictures untill next monday. Check in for updates on that sometime next week!

The Karaokes and a lot of Blood

The Karaokes had another show! It happened last saturday and it was a special Halloween show even though Halloween was last Sunday.

Anyways, it was an awsome show, with lots of blood, pop songs, and candy. (Not) Surprisingly we got booked for New Year's Eve again at Pratersauna. These are just a few Pictures of the show, find more here.

I have new glasses! I can actually see with them! I hate my contacts! I have a new ugly shirt! I got it from a big scandinavian boy and it was even to big for him. Haha!

Here's the dialougue between me and the saleswoman (D is for Dalia and S is for Saleswoman):

D: "I'd like to buy those glasses, please."

S: "Are you aware that those gasses are for old people?"

D: "Yes, but they suit me!"

S: "Please, try them on for me, I can't believe you..."

D is trying on the glasses and S stares at her with disgust.

S: "Are you sure you want to buy those glasses?"

D: "Still a yes, please."

S: "Okay...."

Ze new hat!

This is my new hat. I made it myself. This was our first project at University. It's made out of a rather cheap felt (thus the first project, first time I ever made a hat).

Hat-making is rather easy, it's just very exhausting because you have to apply a lot of pressure and you have to be very careful because you have to apply much heat so that the felt is mouldable. Otherwhise you won't get the felt over your shape.

It was fun to make and I really love the outcome. That hat is on my head nearly all the time. If you ever get a chance to hatmaking I reccomend you to do so.

So this is the new Spring 2011 collection.

I have to be honest and tell you, that I really was afraid the label is going to change completely. But it didn't and that makes me happy. You still see some clear Mcqueenness, though slightly softened (eg. shoulders).

What I think rather interesting is how all the pieces lay somewhere between Press-pieces and normal pieces meant for selling. Take for example the corn dress. Do you think it's meant for selling or for attention? Or the dress in the first picture. The only person who'd pull that off is probably Lady Gaga, though I'm not sure, these are her colours.

Anyways, Sarah Burton did a great job here and is continuing McQueens work perfectly.

Claudia Skoda is a german Knitwear Designer, she started her line in the 70ies, being part of Berlins punk underground-scene. She was the first one to bring Knitwear into High Fashion.

Her fashion shows in that time haven't been about some thin models walking down the catwalk, they were about performance. For her "Big Birds" Show she wanted the models to go to the zoo to look what birds looked like flying, so they could imitate the birds motions on the catwalk. On that occasion I also want to announce that I'm officially a fashion design student from now on. I made it, I got in Fashion Uni, and that's why I've been absent almost all month. It was so much work, getting in, that I forgot about friends, family and blogging. I'm sorry, and I'm going to try to post more, now that I'm a fashion design student. I might also give you a little insight into the studies.

Manequinns at Central Saint Martins College.

These are the starting pictures for my collection I did at CMS in London. And my huge teacup. Luckyly I cought a cold just when the course started. My professors answer to the teacup: "I'd be pissing for a week if I drank all that."

I found these two brothers recently on Youtube and I abolutely love their songs and covers. Please give them a chance and watch the video. The song is really great and sad and melancholic (and I shouldn't write posts when I oughtto be fast asleep) and I hope you love it as much as I do. These are my new Marc Jacob heels. I was very lucky to get them, because I can't normally afford such expencive footwear, if it wasn't for this very fancy shoestore closing down for good. Condotti, as it's called sold all their shoes for 99€ a pair (no matter which label, and they had Alexander McQueen, Marc jacobs, Burberry, .... well, everything).

Also, you can see my claened up room in the back. This is where I live, don't get used to it not being messy. Usually I have a carpet full of clothes and paper lying on the floor.

The only thing that I really hate about the shoes is that I'm currently not allowed to wear them. As you see I'm sitting in the pictures. I have some problems with my knees and I'm not supposed to wear heels for a week (well, actually I can wear them for about an hour, but why would I do that?). I hope you like the shoes.

Oh, before I forget, I'm flying to London in a week again (surpise, surprise) and I'm not sure if I get to blogging before I go. I might not be able to blog for the next 3 weeks.

This time London is oing to be a little bit of a different experiance for me. I'm staying for two weeks and the first week'll be the usual shopping, museums, party stuff but the second week I'm taking a course at Central St. Martins College. "Building a fashion Collection". I'm very excited, don't dissapoint me, Ian Kettle.

Little blue dress

This is a little dress I made about a year ago. It's made out of an old button down shirt. It's really easy to make. Maybe I'm going to make a tutorial sometime. The thights are embelished with sequins and pearls, which is even easier than sewing the dress. Just sew everything on while you're wearing the thights, like CocoRosa or Park & Cube.

Please ignore the Gossip poster in the back, I dunno why I hung it up. I'd bother to take it off if it wasn't so high up! I do not like Gossip.

I was listening to Dvendra Banhart and looking up pictures of him all evening and he inspired me to this make-up. I really like how it turned out, the only problem is, I'm heading out in (literally) 5 minutes to have a few drinks and watch Eclipse with my friends. (I'm not really sure I want to be sober watching that piece of shit, though I have been looking forward to this for months now. I'm so excited! I really am!)

Anyways, the make-up: As I told you, I just came back from a holiday and we made a little trip to Italy, and we ended up in Sephora (which doesn't exsist in Austria). There I found the ugliest and best eyeshadow-set of all times (neon colours and other ugly things, awsome) and bought it (duh!). I haven't really tried the other neon colours yet, but I'm really happy with the other colours. I'm sorry for the photobooth pictures though, my camera's battery is empty.

I found sandals. You might not know what that means to me, but be sure, this is the first time in my life that I found sansals I like, that fit, and don't hurt. They are Fendi and would've cost me 420 €, which I don't have, if it wasn't for the Guerilla Store that was opened during the 10 Festival for Fahsion and Photography. I found them there for 89 €. YES, I KNOW! Look at them! They are the most beuaiful flat sandals in the world and they are MINE!

Hetzendorf Fashionshow

I know, I know, the Fashionshow was weeks ago, but a girls gotta go on holidays too! I've been to a (as the ice cream gigollo put it) "dead fucking pussy place" in istra, croatia. The Internet hasn't yet been invented there, we didn't find one bloody internet - café! It was a nice week of doing nothing anyways. The weeks before have been very stressful for me, so I was happy to lay around at the beach doing nothing. Well, I'm going to stop talking/writing now. I hope you like what the Austrian fashion-schools are doing. I picked out my favourites of course.

Pratersauna Backyardsale

This Saturday and Sunday Backyardsale takes place once more at the fabulous Pratersauna. With labels and shops such as: K[O]R, Kawayan, American Apperal (up to -75%), What about the future (pop-up store), Zapateria, Wood Wood Store, Common People, Björn Borg, Polyklamott, and a decent amount of private sellers, selling vintage clothes and their own collections.

As you probably noticed these are older pictures of me (duh! Look at my hair!). I wasn't really happy with them, that's why I didn't post them before. I'm really naked and all. Sorry, it's way too late for me and I have absolutely no idea what to tell you about this. Oh yeah! Funny story: I thought it to be funny to climb into the lockers and take pictures, so I had my friend take my camera and got into the locker. Just as she started to take pictures some creepy guy asked if he may take pictures of me too. And no, he was no club-or website photographer, nor photographer of any kind. And now a guy whom I never going to see again (and don't want to for that matter) has pictures of me posing in a locker!
